The studio is housed in the 17th-century chambers of Doctor Lado. Historic architecture sits alongside Soviet objects, post-Soviet vintage and contemporary art. Books of Russian classics prop up a chest of drawers from the nineties, and a painting made of torn tights lives inside a nobleman's mansion. That is what freedom is about — bringing together things that are usually kept apart.
