The studio is built on a clash of two aesthetics that are hard to imagine side by side. The Soviet sports school — geometry, constructivism, discipline and function — meets decorative classicism: stucco, chandeliers and an almost theatrical excess. Between them a third image emerges: a school gym from the eighties where everyone has come for a disco.

Just as the body keeps traces of its own experience, a space can keep traces of culture — and assemble something new out of them.
